From a pink lake to a Japanese island ruled by cats, the world is a strange and wonderful place with a lot of interesting and eye-catching places which you may don't know.

1. Spotted Lake, British Columbia, Canada

Spotted Lake has long been revered by the indigenous Okanagan (Silks) and it's easy to see why they thought it sacred. In the summer, the lake water evaporates and leaves small mineral pools, each different in color from the other.

2. Pamukkale, Turkey

A fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Turkey, visit Pamukkale (Cotton Palace) and take in the ruins of ancient Hierapolis, the great city that was built around it. Waterfalls from natural springs and down white limestone terraces form stunning thermal pools perfect for a quick dip.

3. Socotra Islands - Yemen

Socotra is a world of adventure, beauty, discovery, relaxation and fun. This majestic Island is a vacation destination without limits because there is so much to see and just as much to do.

4. Nazca Lines, Peru

The animal figures and geometric figures created by ancient Nazca in arid Peru's Pampa de San Jose are one of South America's greatest mysteries. It can only be seen from the top or from a metal viewing tower. The place is one of the strangest places in the world.

Peru is home to Machu Picchu, one of the seven modern wonders of the world, which draws travelers from around the globe.

But if you ask any Peruvian, Machu Picchu is on equal footing with the Nazca Lines, the desert landscape feature in the southern part of the country.

From simple lines to geometric and zoomorphic shapes, these indentations are spread across the arid plateau of Pampas de Jumana, some stretching to 1,200 feet (about as long as the Empire State Building).

5. The well of Barhout, Yemen

The well of Barhout (in Arabic “بئر برهوت”, or as people call it "the bottom of Hell") in Yemen has become the talk of the world and the major international news channels in recent times because it is One of the most dangerous isolated and undiscovered places in the world.

The danger of the hole or well of Barhout lies in its presence in an area completely isolated from any population presence, as well as that it has not been explored by anyone until today.  It was also associated with horror stories and the world of jinn and demons.  According to the stories of the local people, and even ancient religious sayings, it is a prison for demons and the souls of criminals and human infidels.

6. Chocolate Hills, Bohol Island, Philippines

Located on the Bohol Island, Philippines, the Chocolate Hills consists of a group of unusually shaped hills. Some say, that they look like a women's breasts, but they really resemble chocolate truffles. It's hard to believe, that this spectacular place is not man-made, but it is all-natural and this extraordinary landscape is unique to Bohol.

Bohol's 1,700 peculiar conical hills dot the center of the island in the Philippines. They range in height but are so regular in shape that they can be mistaken for man-made.

The hills earn their nickname chocolate hills only in the dry season when the foliage turns from lush green to brown.

7. Red Beach, Panjin, China

So cool and so exotic, The beach is covered in a type of seaweed called Sueda that turns bright red in the fall. Thirty kilometers southwest of Panjin, this intertidal wetland is an important nature reserve for migratory birds.

8. Glass Beach, California, USA

Somewhere not far from Fort Bragg, you can find a unique place, Glass Beach, a beach where nature has turned the mockery of the locals into a real miracle, grinding for decades all the pieces of glass thrown here until they have turned into multicolored pebbles that give the beach a wonderful look, unique both in California and anywhere else in the world.

Glass Beach is a beach adjacent to MacKerricher State Park near Fort Bragg, California, named from a time when it was abundant with sea glass created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline near the northern part of the town. It is illegal to collect glass at this state park.

This sparkling glass beach in California is a groovy side effect of years of littering on the beach. Over time, the waves broke everything into colorful pebbles and the beach became a major tourist attraction.
