Barhout well has been explored .. Omani team uncover the well's secret!
The Omani Caves Exploration Team, in cooperation with the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority and the Mahri Language Center for Studies and Research, documented the eruption of Fugit (or what is sometimes known as the Barhut Well). It is hoped that he will visit a group of caves in the area. The team went down to the bottom of the well and documented the geological and environmental features of the hole with a set of images and data, and collected a group of rock samples from it. The team will issue a detailed report on the drilling and its geological surveys in the coming days.
We've already wrotten about the well of barhout in an interesting previous artcle, The well of Barhout .. The most dangerous place in the world.
Where is Situated the Well of Barhout or Barhut well?
Closer to the border with Oman than to the capital Sanaa 1300km away, the giant hole in the desert of Al-Mahra province in Yemen (17°20'25"N, 52°26'38"E) is about 30 meters wide and thought to be anywhere between 100 and 250 meters deep.
The well, or the Fugit crater, or known to some as the Barhut well, is located in the Al-Mahra Governorate in the eastern part of the Republic of Yemen, approximately 33 km from the Omani border, at the coordinates of 653426 mE, 1917779 mN, Q 39. It belongs to what is known geologically as the melt pits that usually form In the thick limestone rocks (what is known as the Abyssinian Formation, which was deposited in the Eocene era), such as those in the Dhofar Governorate in southern Oman, and the Al-Mahra and Hadhramaut governorates in Yemen.
As a result, over thousands or millions of years, huge pits and deep caves were formed. The crater is located on the street that leads to the Fugit area, a street that branches off from the street that connects the cities of Shahn and Ghaydah in Al-Mahra Governorate.
Geographical and historical features surrounding Barhut well or Fujit hole
The Fugit eclipse appears as a prominent landmark that appears clearly from satellite images, and the width of its outer circular hole is about 30 meters, and it is located between small plains and mountains, most of which are made of limestone, and a group of small anus pours into it, and this deep hole has been associated with many legends that spread In various media, including that the pits contain huge crocodiles, that they are the dwelling of the jinn, that they contain tortured souls, that they contain huge rivers, and that whoever tried to go down to them previously came out with a head without a body.
According to the local residents, the hole was not explored or documented before the Omani team visited it to explore the caves in September of 2021 AD, and the team was generally unable to find previous documentation of the hole before. It should be noted that the area surrounding the pit contains a group of stone tools that seem to date back to the Neolithic period, more than 6000 years ago, and such tools are spread in many sites on the Omani-Yemeni border.
The Omani team is seeking to explore the caves to visit a group of caves in
the province. The team thanks the local authority in Al-Mahra Governorate for
all the facilities provided to the team during its visit.
