Dazzling Lampshades Beautify Quebec City's Cartier Avenue.
|
Quebec City is adding a splash of personality to one of its streets with a
temporary exhibition of art-gallery-inspired lampshades. The 34 uniquely
designed lampshades line a section of Cartier Avenue, warmly illuminating
the city’s wintery landscape. The lamps blend beautifully with light from
the street’s traditional lampposts and traffic lights while giving the
storefronts a distinctly artistic feel. A city is an amazing place and a great destination to celebrate.

The designs, reminiscent of stained glass or even Tiffany lamps, were
accomplished by transferring works by Alfred Pellan and Fernand Leduc from
museum collections onto the lampshades. International design firm
Lightemotion organized the temporary exhibition, which is scheduled for
display until March. However, that doesn’t mean the fun will end there. The
lampshades allow designs to be easily interchanged, giving the city the
ability to set up more displays with different artists in the future.
